Calvary Mount – A Picnic hilltop near Thekkady

Calvary Mount otherwise spelled as Kalvari Mount which is an eco-tourism destination is located 12 km from Idukki and 43 km from Thekkady is a wonderful picnic spot. Better take an SUV vehicle where the vehicle will go top the hill else take a soft trek to the hills. Once you reach the hills awaits you of an eye-catching greenery and a magnificent view of the Idukki reservoir.

Besides the panoramic view of the Idduki reservoir you can see the clouds touching the hills around. Enjoy the movement of clouds at a faster speed based on wind. The cool refreshing air floating around the landscapes and surrounding Greenary will open up your heart. You will simply spend an hour taking photos and Selfies and enjoying the climate and beauty of the place. If you are lucky you can have the distant views of elephants down the mountain and elephant swimming between the islets in the reservoir. There are huts available where visitors can make their overnight stay where the facilities are maintained by Calvary Mount River / Forest protection council, Nagarampara, Ayyappankovil Forest Division.
