Legends say the Athiyedam Palottu deity, believed to be the first incarnation of Vishnu, was brought to Chirambakkavu (now known as Malliyodu Palottu Kavu) by Chemmaran Panicker. A large preserved pond sits near the temple, which can be found along the Kannur-Payyanur route at the Aandam Kovil stop in Hanumarambalam.
