Located in the district of Kasaragod, the northernmost district of Kerala, it is an exciting monument spread over 40 acres. An important feature is the water-tank, magazine and the flight of steps leading to a conclusion tower built by Tipu Sultan.
Standing at the centre of the fort, this offers views of the bank and the towns of Kanhangad, Pallikkara, Bekal, Kottikkulam, and Uduma. The fort is at a delightful elevated location overlooking the Arabian Sea and is quite a nice area to walk around in with a lot of greenery and good views of the sea along the ramparts of the fort. The alluring scene of the seashore and its breathtaking natural scenery and beauty attracts the visitors. Bekal Fort was primarily a military stronghold in the Malabar area, strategically built to combat invaders from the sea.
